Alex Berg and Logan Pacza will Represent Canada this fall in the UK
Innisfil, ON (September 18, 2023) — After careful review by our team of prestigious panel of judges, Alex Berg and Logan Pacza have been selected as Team Canada Scholarship’s drivers to represent Canada at the 2023 Formula Ford Festival and the Walter Hayes Trophy race taking place this Fall in the England.
“The 2023 edition of the Team Canada Scholarship (TCS) is on the horizon and once again it was a tough job to narrow it down and finally select our two young drivers who will be making the trip to England representing Team Canada Scholarship”, say TCS Founder and Director, Brian Graham. “I am excited to welcome both Alex and Logan to the Team Canada Scholarship family and we look forward to supporting them as they navigate their way in England at these two world events.”
The Formula Ford Festival takes place at the legendary Brands Hatch circuit on October 21 – 22 2023 and the Walter Hayes Trophy race taking place at the historic Silverstone circuit on November 04 – 05 2023.
We are pleased to be returning to our host team Graham Brunton Racing (GBR) for another great year. The Knockhill, Scotland based multi championship winning team has had plenty of success in the National Formula Ford competition and will provide valuable driver development and motorsport logistics to TCS drivers Alex Berg and Logan Pacza. Alex Berg 16, from Calgary, AB – F4 US Championship
Alex Berg started his racing career in 2015, following in the footsteps of his father, who made a career in racing as a driver for over 25 years, and raced for a brief period in Formula 1. He raced regionally in Alberta winning a club and Provincial Championship before moving up to National Kart racing in Canada and the USA in 2018.
Alex was selected by Mazda Motorsports to compete in the 2020 Mazda Spec MX-5 “Karts to Cars” Shootout and won the shootout being the youngest driver at age 14.
In 2021 Alex finished P2 in the championship with 3 race wins, 3 pole positions and 5 podiums. It was a very successful season for his debut in cars.
In 2022 he raced in both the Spec MX-5 Challenge and the F4 US Championship with great success, finishing 3rd overall in the National Championship for Spec MX-5 Challenge and finishing 5th in the F4 US Championship.
In 2023, Alex has been racing in the F4 US Championship and is currently 4th in the standings. He has a large variety of experience racing in various types of cars such as Mazda MX-5 Cup Cars, Elan DP-02 Prototype, 2001 Lola T97/20 Indy Lights, BMW M2 CS, Piper F1600 and Spectrum F1600.
In his spare time, he also is a paid test driver for Ligier Automotive and is currently focusing on the development work for the much-anticipated Ligier JSF4-22, which will race in the F4 US Championship in 2024 and beyond.
Logan Pacza 16, from Cambridge, ON – F1600 Champion
Logan Pacza’s racing career began in go-karts at the age of 9 at Erbsville Kart summer camp, before moving on the next year, coming 2nd overall in an Arrive and Drive series.
Between the ages of 11 and 15, Logan began his reign of winning and won the HRKC Club Championship, the 2020 Ron Fellows Karting Championship in Briggs Junior, was the 2021 Ron Fellows Karting Vice-Champion in ROK Junior and at age of 15, obtained 3 podium finishes in Briggs Senior in the Ron Fellows Series.
In 2023, Logan ran in the Toyo F1600 Championship and solidified his Championship, having the most poles and breaking the qualifying track record at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Academically, Logan is in grade 12 at Galt Collegiate in Cambridge and looking to study psychology at University in the future. To balance his busy schedule Logan is a Lifeguard and Swimming instructor at his local pool as well.
About the Team Canada Scholarship
Started in 2011 by Brian Graham of Brian Graham Racing, the Team Canada Scholarship was launched to send young Canadian drivers to battle with the best young drivers in the world at the legendary Formula Ford Festival held at the Brands Hatch circuit in the UK each Fall and then expanding to The Walter Hayes Trophy race at Silverstone. The mission of the Team Canada Scholarship is to grow amateur motorsports in Canada by raising the profile of the sport and providing opportunities for aspiring youth racers to move up through the ranks and get international motorsports experience and exposure.
