What is Team Canada Scholarship?

In 2011, Team Canada Scholarship (TCS) sent its first drivers to the Brands Hatch motor racing circuit in England to compete in the prestigious Formula Ford Festival representing Canada. The Formula Ford Festival is an annual meeting of single seat Formula Ford racing cars, which is held at the end of the British racing season. In 2021 it celebrated its 50th Anniversary!

This event is a rare opportunity for drivers to compare their skills with other competitors who take part in different open wheel competitions across the world. Many winners of the festival have gone on to enjoy professional racing careers in various branches of motorsport – including many who have raced in Formula One.

In fact, 25% of all the winners have done so!

Team Canada Scholarship

Innisfil, ON (September 29, 2022)

Team Canada Scholarship (TCS) is pleased to announce that Graham Brunton Racing (GBR) will be our host team for the Formula Ford Festival and Walter Hayes Trophy race for 2022.

The Knockhill based multi championship winning team has had plenty of success in the National Formula Ford competition and will provide valuable driver development and motorsport logistics to TCS drivers Jake Cowden and Kevin Foster. As this will be our 10th year heading to the UK, being in a Ray chassis and continuing our long-term relationship with Gavin Ray is very important to us.

“GBR will be our new home this year when we get to England in October”, says TCS Founder and Director, Brian Graham. “GBR has always had well prepared cars and runs a very professional program. We are looking forward to building a relationship with Graham and his team.”

“The Team Canada Scholarship is a fantastic initiative, and we are so proud to announce being part of it for 2022” says GBR Team Owner, Graham Brunton. “The work put in behind the scenes to find and nurture young talent is something we are also passionate about which is why we believe this new partnership is going to be great for everyone involved. Everyone at Team GBR are looking forward to seeing how the shootouts go, and to hitting the ground running when the finalists come to the UK in October.”

TCS will be contending in the BRSCC Formula Ford Festival (October 22/23), one of the world’s greatest and most competitive single-seater competitions and the Walter Hayes Trophy (Nov 5/6), which boasts some of the busiest grids with drivers from around the world.
